Well, there must be a benefit to both not working and living in a big city...so today I ventured out to witness the 2008 Olympic torch relay through SF. For those of you that didn't hear, there were a few protests regarding Tibet and many protestors in SF leading up to the relay and fears about the reactions on the actual relay based on actions in other cities around the world. Well, our SF police/relay planners thwarted many protestors and unfortunately many fans by moving the route at the last minute...they fooled some people as well as me. I hiked down to the embarcadero along the bay, but then heard they were on Van Ness - which incidentally were going right by my apartment. But i was stuck across the street with a big crowd and some protestors (which i must say were v. peaceful).
I love the olympics so this was an exciting moment - unfortunately, i have no idea who the torch runners were.
